CHEM Talks: Christian M. Pedersen
Associate Professor Christian Marcus Pedersen, Department of Chemistry, UCPH
will give a “CHEM Talks" Friday 10/3-2023 at 12:15.
“Glycosylations – with and without catalysts”
Our research interests include biomass conversion, glycosylation chemistry and medicinal chemistry. In this talk, I will focus carbohydrate chemistry. Carbohydrates are omnipresent in nature and glucose is the most abundant organic molecule, hence their chemistry is important to understand, and we are particularly interested in developing selective methods for glycoside synthesis. We have recently developed the concept “self-promoted” glycosylations, where no catalysts or promotors are needed. We are generally interested in controlling the reactions in terms of reactivity tuning and stereoselectivity and have developed several methods, which have been studied in detail by e.g. NMR spectroscopy
