N2 - Aerosol nucleation has been studied experimentally in purified, atmospheric air, containing trace amounts ofwater vapor, ozone, and sulfur dioxide. The results are compared with model calculations. It is found that anincrease in ionization by a factor of 10 increases the production rate of stable clusters by a factor of ~3,probably due to ion-induced nucleation.
