N2 - Upper limits for the rate constants of the following gas phase reactions have been determined at 296 K: k(FNO+O3) < 3 × 10-18, k(FNO+O(3P)) < 5 × 10-13, k(FNO+HO2) < 3 × 10-12, k(FNO+HCl) < 5 × 10-18, and k(FNO2+O3) < 8 × 10-19 cm3 molecule-1 s-1. These reactions can be ruled out as chain or sink reactions of FNO in the atmosphere. The implications for the atmospheric chemistry of FNO are discussed.
